THEATRE “ CONFLICT MANAGEMENT „– WOP 

This workshop is addressed to groups that already have history and that like to address and resolve conflicts by using methods of dramatic play and Theatre of the Oppressed (TDU). So we are going to do exercises in pairs, in small groups and others with all participants. We work on a scene which later is shown in front of the whole group. The audience is invited to change the scene by playing a role and changing the scene.
The WOP is divided into several stages and is building and process-driven:
Building Relationships – group dynamic and trust-games to grow together, developing teamworking-skills
Conflict Management – Introducing the concept of non-violent communication and using it in a roleplay
Scene Work – Introduction to Image Theatre (TO), choice of topic, developing a scene
Fine Tuning – scene work
Performance – Performance of scenes in front of all and intervention of the audience

Reflection – parts and reconsideration of experiences in WOP
Duration: 5 days
Participants: 15 -30 persons
Fee: 150 € / person (fee WOP Manager, rent for training space) (depending on group size) or by appointment

THEATRE „PRESENTATION & COMMUNICATION“– WOP 

This workshop is addressed to young people who want to work on their presentation skills  by using methods of dramatic play. So we are beginning with exercises for  selfpresentation and in a further step we are going to reflect own weaknesses and strengths. We`ll work in pairs, in small groups and with the whole group. We work on a scene which later is shown in front of the whole group and the audience is invited to change the scene by adopting a role.

The WOP focuses on several issues and is process-driven:
Building Relationships – group dynamic games and trust games
Self-image / perception of others – attributions of others; How the others see me? How do I see myself?
Strengths / weaknesses – exercises to raise awareness for strengths and weaknesses, dealing with success and failure
Presentation – exercises to present ourselves in front of the others; casting or application situation
Communication – develop a collection of different communication methods and after using them in practice
Reflection – parts and reconsideration of experiences we´ve made during the workshop; Feedback
Duration: 5 days

THEATRE “ SOCIAL SKILLS & TEAMWORK“– WOP                   

This workshop is addressed to female-socialized persons who want to develop their social and teamworking skills with the help of methods of dramatic play. So we are going to work in pairs, in small groups and other exercises with all participants. Every action is followed by reflection. The participants are invited to visualize group dynamics by playing theatre and they get a theoretical input on the topics „group dynamics“ and „Nonviolent Communication“.
The WOP focuses on several issues is and process-driven:
Building Relationships – group dynamic games to grow together, developing teamworking skills
Group dynamics – theoretical introduction to the subject of group dynamics
Social skills – dramatic representation of experienced problems in the group and development of solution models
Conflict Management – Introducing the concept of non-violent communication and try it in practice
Teamwork – solving problems in a team
Reflection – rethinking the experience we´ve gained in the group
Duration: 5 days

THEATRE „P SELF DETERMINATION & FOREIGN – SELF EMPOWERMENT“– WOP                   

This workshop is addressed to female socialized persons (on request it is also possible to work in mixed groups) who like to use methods of dramatic play, the Theatre of the Oppressed (TDU) and psychodrama ( Moreno) to deal with situations we haven´t solved in a good way to experience in a further step an already-made experience again positive. We work alone, in pairs or in small groups. The aim of the workshop is that all participants experience moments of self-empowerment.
The WOP focuses on several issues and is process-driven:
Building Relationships – group dynamic games and trust games
Autonomy / heteronomy – experiencing selfdetermination by different methods (drawing, painting, writing)
Theatre of the Oppressed & psychodrama – Introducing the Image Theatre (TDU) and the method of psychodrama by JL Moreno
Self Empowerment – the participants have the opportunity to experience a pre-made self / self-determined situation through choreographic instructions again positive
Articulating needs – Introduction to the concept of non-violent communication and subsequent Try
accepting offers – improvisational theater as an exercise to learn to accept deals
Ways to self-determination – collective gathering of different methods that can help us to empower ourselves
Reflection – parts and reconsideration of experiences in WOP

CYBERBULLYING – WOP                   

We start reflecting how people present themselves online. We talk about bullying and work on the topic by roleplayling. That way we are also developing solutionmodels. The participants are asked to make a short movie doing interviews with eachother according to the topic with their mobile phones. They will be informed about bullying. With the help of the Theatre of the Oppressed methods we are going to work on conflict scenes. The resulting videos are viewed and reflected together.
Structure of Wops:

Self-perception – Using an interview for self-image in a video about themselves
Bullying – Theoretical Input about bullying online and offline, conflict scenes using the
resolve method of Forum Theatre in a negative and in a positive way
Presentation – watching produced videos, reflection

– definition, rights and opportunities for action
Video – handling the camera and image transfer to a PC and screen
Theatre – work on body language, voice, improvisation, character, scene work

THEATRE – „PLAYING THEATRE & TRANSCULTURAL EXCHANGE“ – WOP                    

This workshop is addressed to young people who like to play theatre & telling stories. At the beginning will be working on scenes from everyday life (e.g .: socializing, family, description of oneself, shopping and asking for directions). In the next unit we want to work using dramatic methods to approve our vocabulary and learn exercises using our body and voice to work on bodylanguage, understand and apply it. In the next phase of the workshop the experiences of the participants are going to be in the centre. They tell in short scenes from their lives. Here the use of their own primary language will play a role to develop the scene in a further step to translate it into German. The sample stage acts as a platform that allows the participants to exchange it. We learn to present ourselves before the others with self-confidence. The last unit is designed to provide space and time for repetitions, as well as the possibility that the participants in the workshop show their created scenes.
Scenes of everyday life – name, history, hobbies, interests, shopping and cooking, to ask for the way, express leisure, enthusiasm and resentment
Vocabulary and grammar – conjugations, declinations, rhythm games, improvisational theatre
working on the scene– participants play short stories of their lives
Stage and Reflection– stage and perception; at the end of each unit the participants have the possibility to present something they´ve learned or specially created. The spectators have the opportunity to give feedback.

THEATRE – „USING THEATRE METHODS IN THE WORK WITH YOUNG PEOPLE “ – WOP                    

This workshop is addressed to those working with young people and would like to use dramatic techniques in their teaching activities, aswell as group dynamics games and relaxation methods. So the workshop tries to provide a pool of different theatre pedagogical that can help in their teaching practice to achieve better learning effects. So it is assumed that in any kind of mediation, the group dynamic level plays an important role. The more trust the group members have to each other and feel, the more communication is taking place and learning new content gets easier. It also means that the group members can learn from each other and so the full potential of the group can be noticed. So not only content is taught but also social skills and teamworking skills. People in mediating positions who are struggling with similar challenges come together to discuss common problems and to develop solutions in a playful way.

CIRCUS THEATRE – WOP                   

Insight into the techniques of juggling, acrobatics and drama enable a common elaboration of solo and group numbers, which are presented at the end of the seminar.

Structure of Wops:

Technology – Technical input in the fields of juggling, acrobatics and spectacle
Experiments and Free Training – space to practice acquired knowledge and to be supported on the part of the WOP-Chief, as well as the opportunity to experiment
Presentation – Presentation of the learned or specially created numbers; All spectators have the opportunity to give feedback.

Focus:

Circus experiments – playful approach for learning techniques
Juggling – Technical Inputs to juggling and passing balls, clubs, poi, etc.
Acrobatics – gymnastics and partneracrobatics with backup
Theatre – work on body language, voice, improvisation, character, scene work

PUPPET THEATRE  – WOP                   

Using the methods of dramatic play and Theatre of the Oppressed (TDU) together we create a fairy tale or a story, in which from different materials collected homemade dolls are to be used.

The WOP is divided into several stages and is process-driven:
Building Relationships – group dynamic games to grow together, developing teamworking skills
Stage work – different games and exercises to adapt to the stage, physical theatre, improvisation
Scene Work – Introduction to Image Theatre (TDU), selection of a fairy tale / a story, develop a scene
Artistic work – drafting and creation of puppets
Fine tuning – use of dolls in the scene
Performance – Performance of the scenes if possible with the involvement of the audience
Reflection – collective reflection of the experiences gained in WOP

MASK THEATRE  – WOP                   

Using the methods of dramatic play and Theatre of the Oppressed (TDU), we work on a scene in which clay and paper self-made masks are to be used. The confrontation with emotions will be relevant and playing can help dealing with own emotions

The WOP is divided into several stages and is process-driven:
Building Relationships – group dynamic games to grow together, developing teamworking skills
Stage work – different games and exercises to adapt stories to the stage, physical theatre, improvisation
Scene Work – Introduction to Image Theatre (TDU), choice of subject, developing a scene
Artistic work – sketch and create a mask
Fine Tuning – use of masks in the scene
Performance – Performance of the scenes if possible with the involvement of the audience
Reflection – collective reflection of the experiences gained in WOP

POI BUILD & PLAY – WOP                   

„Poi“ comes from the M?ori, meaning „ball“. Traditional Poi game is around a thousand years old and is considered by the descendants of New Zealands indigenous today as a cultural tradition. The poi – juggling describes the dance or juggling with 2 balls attached to ropes. If these burn or shine, you can draw patterns in the air by moving your body.
Create even a pair of Poi on your own: for yourself or as a gift if wanted in uv-light, fancy or simple. Material and expertise are provided.
There are different Poi to experiment with(also blacklight-Poi) at the beginning of the workshop. Then each participant has the option to create a pair of Poi of different materials. In the end there will be enough time to play with the self-made Poi. (In this case a kind of performance can be a result.)

The WOP is divided into several stages:
Games and juggling – experimenting with different Poi
Development of ideas and sketches – developing an idea for a pair of Poi and drawing a sketch
Creative work – drawing, sewing, crafts
Games and juggling – Play with home-made Poi

THEATRE CLOWNING & THEATRE  – WOP                   

The clown is a figure showing its emotions which discoveres everything for the first time. A figure that follows its own logic and is brave enough to fail. This workshop is addressed to all (children, adolescents, adults) who like to discover and experience their inner clown. The aim is to laugh together, to find the courage to present ourselves on stage to express feelings and to extend our own limits.
Group – Arrival, warming up, group dynamic games
Technology – Statement and evaluation of the typical attributes of the clown: the movement types and Gibberish, the language of the clown
Fantasy Travel – room for imagination
Stage – presentation in front of the others

Teamwork – promoting teamwork, group games
Clowning – the inner clown knows and experience
Feelings – Try different emotions in the game
Failure – the experience „failure“ as a way to learn
Theatre – work on body language, voice, improvisation, character, scene work

WORKSHOP GUIDE

Vrovro Geiger, Master of Arts, Performance artists of the Viennese circus collective C³,Circus, art and drama teacher; Since graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2011, she lives and works as an artist in Vienna; in particular she uses methods of circus, theatre, visual arts, music, etc. In her opinion „Art“ in all kinds of appearances is a form of communication. A contemporary art production between social art projects and artistic social projects, a combination artist.
After finishing the course of the Theatre of the Oppressed (Boal), she participated in international theatre projects such as in West Bengal, India and Bhaktapur,Nepal. As a performance artist in the Viennese circus collective C³, the Curious Circus Collective, she was involved in the planning and showing of two circus theatre plays and several cabarets evenings. Also she offers different theater workshops on various topics, especially in direction of self-empowerment and conflict resolution strategies. She sees great potential in the collective cooperation and in conjunction with body work. 2016 she finished the training course to lead psychodramatic role plays (Moreno).
